'Deeply concerning': reading for fun in the US has fallen by 40%, new study says
The number of Americans who read for pleasure has fallen by 40%, according to a new study. Researchers at the University of Florida and University College London have found that between 2003 and 2023, daily reading for reasons other than work and study fell by about 3% each year.

IBPA approved as ALA affiliate
The American Library Association announced July 30 that the Independent Book Publishers Association is now an ALA affiliate. During the 2025 Annual Conference, the ALA Council voted to approve IBPA's application to join the ALA's organizational network. IBPA is the first publishing association among the ALA's 28 affiliate organizations.
